Release Types

There are a variety of different release types. The type is identified by the version number. Donation Store uses Semantic versioning to version it's releases

A release number can be defined as:

  • X.Y.Z

Each letter represents a different release type


Z - Small/Patch Release

A small release that adds a variety of fixes to identified bugs or improves on small areas of Donation Store.

Frequency: > 1 per week (sometimes none dependent on patches required)
Notifications: Through Discord



Y - Feature Release

A release containing multiple sets of features. Much bigger than a Small/Patch release. E.g. adding a suite of new Payment Gateways

Frequency: 0 - 2 per month (sometimes none dependent on patches required)
Notifications: Through Discord, Email & Other Channels (Blog, Twitter, etc.)



X - New Generation Release

A release that completely redesigns or reimplements a large or entire part of Donation Store. E.g., Version 1 of Donation Store preceeded the current Version 2

Frequency: As needed
Notifications: Through Discord, Email & Other Channels (Blog, Twitter, etc.)
