Sub Domain and Custom Domain
Learn how we use Sub Domains and how to setup a Custom Domain
Introduction
When you sign up for Donation Store Cloud, you asked to choose a sub domain for your store. This initial sub domain is a .donationstore.io
sub domain. This sub domain is unique and will be attached to your webstore. While you have to choose a default sub domain, you can change it to a custom domain later.
We refer to this domain as the "default sub domain". An example would be: https://store.donationstore.io
Using a Custom Sub Domain
If you would like to use a custom sub domain, for example https://store.network.com
, you will have to setup your sub domain to point to Donation Store:
- Visit your Domain Hosting provider and create a CNAME record that points to your Default Sub Domain. For example, if you chose
https://store.donationstore.io
as your default sub domain, create a CNAME record that points to that - When you use a custom sub domain, Donation Store validates that you have already pointed to CNAME to your default domain to verify ownership. Please ensure that you do the above step first. Sometimes you may have to wait a couple of minutes before the changes to the DNS are propagated.
- Next, navigate to the Settings > Webstore area of Donation Store and select Sub Domain. Once there, select Custom Sub Domain and enter your sub domain on the right hand side. When you add the Custom Sub Domain, an SSL certificate is generate for you. Please read more about SSL certs in the SSL Certificate Doc.
